A庵 (yeah ann) is a project that inserts the smallest unit of space—tatami—into the city and brings a “contemporary tearoom” to life in response to the atmosphere of each place. Featuring TATAMIX, tatami embedded with vibration speakers, we present a 40-minute casual tea gathering by day—built around matcha, tea utensils, and the sound of analog records—and a 50-minute small-group “Shibuya Yaén” by night, where guests enjoy fine drinks and traditional games such as Hanafuda. We design moments where stillness and exhilaration, introspection and sociability, can rise at once—reconstructing the teahouse as a contemporary nighttime salon where sensibilities meet.
