This project is an urban theatrical art initiative that rethinks the acts of “waiting” and “searching” in Shibuya. Visitors step into the role of Hachiko and roam the city in search of his owner. Collaborating both in the streets and on social media, participants follow the owner’s traces across Shibuya. When the owner is finally found, fragments of the Shibuya that Hachiko once witnessed through the long years of waiting begin to surface.
Why has Hachiko forgotten Shibuya’s scenery? How long did he wait, and how long did he search? In this project, participants themselves relive the passage of time waiting, searching, and moving through the city as Hachiko.
