We will present a colorful pineapple festival float—a mobile sculpture—brought to life through action painting in collaboration with the students of Jinnan Elementary School. At its heart is the “pineapple,” an iconic motif that continues to captivate Ryuichi Ohira.

Ryuichi Ohira was born in Tokyo in 1982 and raised in Chiba. He earned a doctorate at Tokyo University of the Arts in 2011.
In recent years, he has continued to present his works through various exhibitions and projects, including Art Basel Hong Kong (2019–2024) and the STAR WARS Exhibition (Shibuya and Shinsaibashi PARCO, 2024). In his 2022 solo exhibition “SYNDROME” at NANZUKA UNDERGROUND, he unveiled a large wooden sculpture resembling a personified pineapple avatar, akin to a combined robot. In 2023, to commemorate the launch of Tokyo Gendai, he presented the large-scale installation The Circuit. This work not only hinted at the multifaceted definitions of the term “circuit,” including the philosophical concept of the rhizome, but also evoked traditional Japanese aesthetics, offering a thought-provoking perspective on cultural diversity.
